The original Stone Chariot at Hampi, built during the Vijayanagara Empire in the 15th–16th century CE, is one of the most iconic and photographed monuments in India — a masterpiece of Dravidian temple architecture that appears on the Indian 50-rupee note. This beautifully detailed miniature captures every architectural element of the original with remarkable precision: a multi-tiered temple chariot (Ratha) structure with a flat-roofed sanctum/shrine chamber at the top with open arched doorways and windows on all sides, multiple horizontal tiered moulding bands with intricate pillar and colonnade detailing along the full height, the lower section featuring two large detailed spoked chariot wheels (Chakra) on each visible side with decorative spoke and hub detailing, the base mounted on a flat rectangular platform with decorative border moulding, and most distinctively — two detailed elephant figurines (Gaja) at the front base of the chariot serving as the chariot's guardians. A separate small elephant figurine is included as a companion piece. The entire miniature is crafted in antique golden brass with dark patina in the recessed areas, giving it an aged, archaeological museum-quality look.
